For drivability, you'll want at least 4.88 gears with the 35" tires, 3.73s are not going to cut it. If your going to stay with the 35" tires you should consider to either change over your Dana 35 to a Super 35 or regear the Dana 44 to match the 4.88s you already have up front. I think you'd be better...

Yeah, me too. I had a red YJ with tan interior and top just like yours. There are times I wish I kept it to beat around on it.

Just keep your profile here. After you've had your YJ for awhile, you'll want another Jeep and it will most likely be a TJ.

I get it, I'm from the NE as well. If you're building it to just hit trails, it doesn't make sense. Just inspect the welded frame carefully. I looked at plenty where they didn't cut out the old cancer very well or at all before welding in the new pieces. That'll just lead to fixing it again...

Kendallville is in the northeast corner of IN. It's about a 12 hour drive from Worcester (picking a central point in MA). With a truck and trailer you could be there and back with an overnight. It would add to the expense but a clean unmolested frame is nice.

Ebay, Daveys Jeeps, or Dead Jeeps would be the only place to get a standard bracket without the rise. No one makes them new.

If you can weld, you could fill in the divots and grind/file smooth. However, those knuckles look quite pitted as well. I'd purchase new ones...
