Finally got to take this thing to AOP. Beautiful park. Gets pretty sloppy in the rainy season, but definately a park i'll be going back to. Rig performed really well til it spit the caps out the double cardan.

Awesome, AOP is the hardest wheeling I have ever done. Steep and no traction anywhere, it is a special kind of crazy.

Everyone says that - until you wheel @Zorba ’s front yard..

😎

Geesh AOP is still just 20 minutes from my house, and I still haven't tried it   same with Coppinger cove or Coalmont OHV :cry:

The jeep club was planning coalmont for memorial day weekend, but that plan changed to windrock a few days ago. Looks like a good spot from the videos ive seen. We usually wheel at gulches, uhwarrie, and river rock. For a tiny 80 acre park, gulches is packed with some pretty tough obstacles.

I would start with Coalmont and The Cove and then work your way up to AOP. AOP is the type of place that even if you show up as a non-drinker, you will be doing shots of fireball and yelling woohoo at some point during the day. That then leads to bouncing off the rev limiter and some sort of carnage and recovery during the night. It's just in the air, you can't avoid it you just accept it and enjoy the crazy.

You will have fun at wind rock, have you ever been?

Havent been to windrock yet. Waiting on 2 buddies to finish their builds. Definately want to go bacl to choccolocco though, harlan is also on the list.

Harlan is worth the trip, I have always stayed on the Putney side but after my last trip I think next time I will try to stay on the evarts side. On Putney there is nice campground and very nice cabins but there is only one way up and down the mountain and it is barely wide enough for one rig. Last time the sxs traffic was non stop on that access trail and it became an issue a few times. chocco is another one of those special kind of crazy places that you got to experience at least once.

Based on your build and the pics of the rigs above I can give you a list of some good trails to hit at windrock.

Yeah thats the kind of wheeling we like to do, the smallest rigs are jks on 37s, everything else is on tons and 40"+ tires. Wheeling out here on the east coast is a totally different animal than the wheeling i did out west 15+ years ago. That wet granite is a lot less forgiving than sandstone lol

I was told you can get into the cove from Coalmont, trying to find out if that's so. With the rain we have had, crossing the river will be close to impossible.

Yes, you can get into the cove from Coalmont. You can also get into in from other ways. You have to cross water no matter what way you go in and right now it's going to be deep every where.

Whats a good time of the year to wheel up there? Ive seen some videos posted around september, and it looked pretty good.

The JK in front of me was on 37's most of their group was and all had lockers (they came up from Atlanta)

My Sport I had the was on 33's and no lockers or winch. So I turned around and came back out.

If I had known them I probably would have tagged along.

But not being with their group and no winch or lockers I felt it best to let them enjoy their trip instead of having to keep an eye on the loner.
