First off. 01' 4.0 with 199,000 miles. Rebuilt trans. Had it for over a year now, with no issues. Whoever owned it before must of taken good care of it.
Because it doesn't leak a drop of oil. Don't think I ever owned a used car that didn't leak even a little oil!
Engine is obviously tired, as it sounds like a diesel when first started. Otherwise ran great until most recently.
Noticed the idle stumbling, very slight miss, when stopped at a light first. Now it has been stalling, annoying mostly, starts right back up.
First thing I did was replace the plugs. It had AP 985 plugs in it. Which I read is not recommended on this model.
Plugs were worn, gap had increased quite a bit. Replaced them with 985 copper and it made no difference.
On a tight budget right now, so before I start throwing parts at it. I wanted to know what others found to fix this somewhat common problem, as I searched the posts.
My first Wrangler, and just getting to know this Jeep. Not a stranger with car repairs and prefer to "do it myself" as I have since I first started driving.

I have noticed the heat soak issue, since I owned it, But I mostly only drive it to work, and it sits for 8 hours. Not a big deal for me.
But I'd like to hear from others that had this issue, and what they found to fix the problem?

Starting with the least expensive repair or sensor replacement. What have you found, to solve this issue?

I am happy to be a member of this forum, and will gladly share what I have done to my Jeep so far, to help others as well.

Thanks in advance,

David
