Anybody able to decode a VIN with axle ratios?

The VIN information and the metal tag under the differential cover bolts may be incorrect if a previous owner changed the gears. To approximate the installed gear ratio you can jack up the rear of the Jeep, place a mark on the driveshaft and the tire, spin one of the tires and compare how many...

    Knocking noise from Valve Cover

Difficult to determine exactly where the noise is coming from; might be a thrown rod bear, might a piston skirt or possible even a collapsed lifter. The easiest and first step in your troubleshooting of the noise should be to remove the valve cover and do an inspection of the rocker arms and...

    Troubleshooting Some Error Codes

The next time the engine dies while driving or you cannot get the engine to start after the Jeep was driven; verify the tachometer needle is moving while cranking the engine. IF the tachometer needle does not move then there is a good chance the problem is your CKPS. You can test this theory IF...

Wiring LED fogs to stock fog light switch

The fuse in the PDC feeding the factory fog lights is 20A and the wiring feeding the factory fog lights are 18 ga; which means the factory fog lights draw about 7 amps each. Since a 30 amp fuse is included with your LED foglight wiring harness; what is the wattage rating of each LED foglight ...

    TJ won't start

When you checked power to the coil; did you only check the power at the positive terminal of the coil or did you check power across the positive and negative terminals while cranking the engine over ? IF you only have power to the coil positive terminal and not the negative; you need to...

Torque specs for control arms, effected by kroil?

The only thing to add to what LONGJP2 posted above; would be to ensure the vehicle is on the ground with full vehicle weight on the tires while loosening and retorquing the control arm bolts. This ensures the control arm bushings are in the normal operating position; not preloaded when the tires...

What are the odds I can repair this myself with no experience? Body rust (pics in thread)

I wouldn't say impossible, but you will certainly need a lot of help from someone that is experienced in body repairs. From what I see in those pictures you will probably need to replace parts of the body pan and probably other parts that cannot be seen in those pictures.
