Host F550 4X4 Motorhome Quad Slide 330

On the way home I swung thru a OR weigh station for grins & giggles just to see what this beast weighs. OR DOT leaves the scales on even when the weigh station isn't in use or manned.

Front axle: 6,400
Rear Axle: 13,750
Trailer Axles: 4,650

Total Weight: 24,800

I was expecting it to be between 23-24K. The Hemi Jeep obviously weighs a little less than mine will but I'd guess I won't be over 25.5K combined weight.

Fuel mileage on the trip was pretty consistent once I'd picked up the Jeep My worst tank was 7.9 MPG when going through Zion NP and then the rest of the way I was getting 8.9-9.3 MPG depending on how much two lane compared to freeway driving I was doing. I don't expect it to improve that much as th engine gets broken in more but we'll see.

Did you go through the tunnels? From what I understand, to take an RV through the tunnels, you have to wait until they stop traffic coming the other way. Then you need to keep your rig in the center of the road.

Yes they stop traffic and you drive in the center of the tunnel. It was a fun experience too.

When we were headed south we'd stopped by my mom's place in the Tri-Cities to say howdy real fast & surprise her. She had fun following us on SPOT for the whole trip.

Should have taken the dam tour

I rode through there on the way to Sturgis several years ago. Those tunnels are small. The windows are cool though.

The tunnels have windows you can see out of?

Say cheese... or not. Cool pics, the hoover dam is awesome, I read that some of it is still curing it's such a large concrete structure. The water line on the rocks is cool if a lil sad.

Yeah. At points, the tunnels are cut near the side of the mountain. Along the way, there are windows cut out of the side. They were used to dump the rubble into the canyon during construction.

There were only a few but the "windows" are a cool touch...

I didn't know what the windows were used for. Wasn't a lot of spots to pull over with the motorhome & trailer combo either. Next trip I'll have a rig to run around with I hope.

Looks like a great trip, Richardo. Sounds like the rig is hitting on all cylinders - literally.

And your rig weight sounds great. Last year coming back from Moab I hit a scale and was over 20k.

Thanks Jeff. It was a good trip and makes me feel better about dumping all that money into the rig. This was also my first real experience with a newer powerstroke so I wasn't sure what to expect since I've only had Cummins for the past 20 years.
Got a few little problems I've got to address on the motorhome but since this was only my second trip with it so I expected possible issues.
