Cooling fan upgrade comparison - Explorer 11-blade fan and HD Clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

I like that approach and it seems probably a more accurate way to get there because there's one fewer layer of calculation involved. I used 40% as a ballpark Load I remember seeing in the OBD2 scanner, which as I'm sure you know is calculated based on the MAP and TPS. 40% of 235 lb-ft is 94...

Cooling fan upgrade comparison - Explorer 11-blade fan and HD Clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

I'm glad this got addressed, because it's the biggest reason I might actually consider this mod. Since gasoline engines are only about 30-35% efficient, and of the total power input about 30% goes out the radiator and the other 35-40% goes out the exhaust, it really is about 1:1. 5hp saved...

    Antisway bars in FWD cars

To take it a step further, a perfectly neutral car would have each axle equally resistant to "sway" or "roll". Whichever axle is most resistant to roll is going to lift the inside tire in a turn. Of course the bar, as well as the springs and shocks, weight distribution, center of gravity and...

Dishwasher and Washing Machine Drainage Issue: Any Plumbers?

I know their reputation isn't great but dang that seems like a big coincidence to go dumping a bunch of money on new stuff. Should be easy to do with the clothes washer. I admittedly would have to do some exploration to figure out how to do it with a dishwasher that drains into a garbage...

    Letz Roll weld-on rock sliders

How do the best slider designs for JK's and JL's handle this issue, since they don't have a tub that's conducive to a tub mount slider the way ours is?

    Letz Roll weld-on rock sliders

Yeah. And I'm not sure tight fitting is always ideal in this case, as less deflection is required to make them touch the tub...

    Letz Roll weld-on rock sliders

I would just spend the $100 extra for the GR. It's a long lever arm from the outer rail to the frame, and it's gotta be really freaking strong to not deflect at all if you drop it on a rock...and if it deflects up into the tub then what's the point? I know most other vehicles use frame...

    Antisway bars in FWD cars

This has always been my understanding, so yes a thicker rear bar, other things equal, would increase oversteer. Which may at times be desirable if you're wanting to dial out some understeer that FWDs are prone to, but if it's too much, it's too much.

    Unusually Big Timber Rattler

I jumped out of my LJ a few weeks ago when a yellow jacket flew up my shorts. It didn't sting me, it seemed injured or stunned. I think it may have been smacked by the side mirror at 50mph and then bounced up there. I did bring it to a stop first, but couldn't find the words to tell my wife...

    Unusually Big Timber Rattler

My church's pastor is somewhat of a joker. Last time we had group of people join the church he finished up by saying "alright, now head back to the lobby and pastor David will have your snakes". I don't know if any of them believed him but it got a good laugh.

If you could pick one Jeep event to go to, but the catch is, without your Jeep

Not sure that's really true either...I think they insult you straight to your face, but in terms and phrases that sound polite, like "bless your heart".

    Ride quality question

The bucking sounds more like the front and rear not getting along, having to do with the timing of the response of the rear, ideally a little faster than that of the front so that they both "settle" together after an event like an expansion joint in a concrete highway. The difficulty arises...

Should you get a heavy duty fan clutch?

I took a video today to help @machoheadgames figure out if his is working correctly. Figured I'd post here so people can compare. cold start, revving to about 2300rpm until the fan clutch disengaged after approx 15 seconds. Based on how far I'd get from my house before the Hayden stopped...
