They're also not as structurally rigid. Cowl shake is a problem with most convertibles, as losing the hardtop roof was typically an afterthought to the initial design and construction. They tried to mitigate such problems by utilizing subframe connectors, torque boxes, thicker frame material...

I absolutely agree. The "fun factor" of driving a convertible or roadster is hard to deny, but there are definitely cars out there where the aesthetics suffer in the drop-top form. At least, that's how I see it. Stylistically speaking, I almost always prefer a fastback to a convertible.

Not sure that I've ever seen one, either. That '69 was quite the catch!

My buddy's old '55 Plymouth wagon. This is from an article in "Curbside Classics", and was about an hour after my buddy had sold it. It had a 383/727 combo transplanted into it.

I daily drove a beautiful 2-tone blue and white '56 Plymouth Belvedere for a little over a year around '92/'93. Mine looked like this one, only more blue than aqua, and mine was a Belvedere, instead of the Savoy. Mine was in similar condition, as well. Never should have sold it, but my wife was...

My comment had more to do with how much the song sounded like RATM in its delivery. That's what I'm hearing, anyway, knowing full well that it's all subjective.

I absolutely know where you're coming from on the using 4-doors as parts cars (in our past). My, how times have changed. As for dragging the Newport home with my "new" truck, it's unlikely. I haven't the real estate for another project, nor the drive. I have four full-on car projects as it is...

Huh. "Fist of Rage", or Rage Against the Machine? You tell me...

Yup. The value is only in the fact that it's a vintage ride. If the driver's side is as straight as the passenger side is, it's damn near a no-brainer. 4-doors don't get a lot of love, but as one gets older (cough, cough), an appreciation develops for things that were once unacceptable in our youth.

Remember when the car got painted gold after it was "stolen" in the film? That thing was hideous, no matter what color it was painted!
