With savvy tub sliders appearing to be gone at this point, I was wondering who all here has made their own tub sliders, I know starkey, Blaine, and jjvw all had some form of tub slider using 6061 T6 bar, I was curious if I was missing anyone or if anyone has some ideas on how to accomplish this, about to start a new build and want to get some ideas!

Find someone with a big cnc press brake.

No need if all we are building is the straight section above the wheel opening. If the goal is to get a nice bend around the corner, a press brake isn't going to stop the aluminum from cracking.

Is there a noticeable benefit to having it wrap around the tub bend? Flux has me so excited but I’m trying not to get my hopes up just incase.

Ask and you shall receive.

I’m loving what flux is up to but I was referring to the tub rail, as in the stainless steel bar that went into the top of corner armor to add as a slider in the back,

Like what @Irun has aswell as many other members. The only homemade version I’ve seen is @jjvw but I was curious if there was anyone else that has done it?

Here’s a link to my fab process. They are non-radiused.

Awesome! I thought I remembered you doing them but clearly didn’t go far enough back in your build thread. You get a chance to use them yet?

No, WA has wheel coverage laws. They’re ready to go when I wheel on the West side of the state where trails get narrow. I’m looking forward to it. I still prefer the rub rails over the GR flares.

@Alex01 fabbed a radiused set of rub rails. 😋

Thanks this was the one I was looking for!!

I have the savvy rails. If I didn’t have them then I would probably just make a straight aluminum piece and not worry about the curve. I’m not sure my fab skills would let me get a very clean curve.

That’s where I’m at, the bend looks good but idk if I could pull it off

If the aluminum bar could be bent to fit the curve cleanly, we would see more DIY versions like this. The aluminum cracks. That is a reason why the Savvy rails were stainless and formed the way they are.

Makes sense, thanks for the info!!

The curve is not worth the hassle. I just ordered it long enough to attempt. The first side went pretty smooth and the second was a pita which ended with a crack. It was salvageable but nowhere as clean as a savvy bend.

Copy that, straight it is!
