Hi together,

happy to see a forum with a big knowledge base on TJ's.
Actually I'm new to jeep-world, had lot of Toyotas and Suzukis - both for travelling and offroad sport.
After spending really too much time on suzuki-repairs in the last couple of seasons, I've decided to give jeep a try - bought a TJ Rubicon yesterday.
4.0, Automatic, runs on 33" (planned 35") and in overall in a good shape.
Except the chain in the transmission: it needs to be replaced urgently, but I'm hesitating if I can change to NP231 (or better NP242). NP241 rock track is too slow for my purposes, something like 1:2.5-1:3 would be much better.

Currently, it looks like that, but the plan is to remove everything unnecessary - to reduce the weight.

ps. and some day it would look like my current suzuki :)

Where at in Germany? I spent 6 years as an adult in Baumholder, and 6 years as a child in Ansbach and Schweabisch Hall, back when it was W. Germany.

I'd seen Germans yehawing around on Harleys, but don't think I ever saw any in Jeeps!

I'm close to Munich. That's true, you don't see lots of TJ's around here, except if you drive to an USCars-Meeting.
I can fully understand that - a TJ as a daily driver with its consumption, German fuel prices and highways without a speed limit doesn't match all together :)
I had to drive it almost 400 miles from a seller - that's already an "whole day experience", but if driving with a BMW that's just a couple of relaxed hours. Five hours or smth like that.

Hi dears,

I didn't drive the TJ for a while, because the heat core was leaking ( and yeah, I've realized that only after an hour of driving - felt dizzy etc).
Finally I've took some time to replace it,
8 hours non-stop (2 of them went to the heater core bolts behind the engine)

Now it's fine.

I can't wait to get behind my dash. 😳

Welcome back to the forum.

Still fighting with the TJ - it doesn't want to drive straight, if the road is not 100% flat.
Found a similar topic - https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/what-should-my-caster-angle-be.53619/page-3 , but there's no solution found.

I know, an SWB with solid axles drive worse than IFS, but I had a Toyo LJ70 with same 33" tyres - and was able to drive it without any issues, so I can compare.

Currently, the caster angle is set to 6 deg, which fits to the specs - but it drives really awful.
My repair specialist means it's ok and all Jeeps drive like this, but I can't imagine so many people over the world driving that. Once the road is not 100% flat, just a little bumpy, this thing becomes dangerous.

Any ideas?

Do a dry steering test with someone turning the steering from 10-2 while you check all the steering components. Check the alignment (1/16” toe in at 12” off center front and rear of the hub). Are the tires good? Check air pressure. 28psi for 31’s. 26-27psi for 33’s. 25psi for 35’s. Shocks can have a dramatic effect on driveability

Haven't posted for a while, added several things like RCV's, 35", sliders, seats and so on.
And finally went for a short drive to give it a try.
It's so damn heavy :(

ps. I should probably start another thread with mods etc.
